Highland Springs Resort Wedding – Lori and Clay

You may never see a wedding where the pastor gives the bride and groom an old typewriter in the middle of the ceremony, unless you see this one…. Lori and Clay got married by their pastor and good friend Kevin Reynolds of Flipside Church. Kevin has known them since they started dating and knows the story of how they met working as writers for The Daily Bulletin. Definitely one of the best parts of the day.

Lori and Clay got married at Highland Springs Resort in Cherry Valley, CA and this is now one of my all time favorite venues. Seriously gorgeous. The forecast had predicted some pretty heavy rain in the days leading up to the wedding including the night before, but on the day, God gave us just enough sunshine to have a beautiful ceremony without any mud but also just enough clouds to get some amazing sunset shots.

We finished off the night with dancing and the deliciousness of the pie bar! So in conclusion… Amazing couple, Gorgeous venue, Intimate ceremony, Beautiful details, and Pie! Haha :)

Planes of Fame Museum Wedding – Janice and Tom

I have been waiting SOOO long it seems like to post this wedding. I shot this wedding in January but sent it over to Green Wedding Shoes where it got featured! Then I wanted to wait for GWS to post before everyone got to see the images. :) See it here Tom and Janice on GWS

So here’s the back story… I have known Tom for about 7 years though different places. First though skateboarding with him and my good friend Zach and then second though the collage small group at Sandals Church. One night a few months ago while hanging out with our friend Zeke, Tom told me he was going to propose and that he wanted to meet with me about wedding photography when he did. I was super stoked because I knew right out of the gate that Toms wedding was not going to be one of your typical weddings and was even more excited after we shot their Engagement session in Palm Desert.

Janice and Tom have super great taste in music, style and details. One of the reasons I loved this wedding other than the style was the sermon by my good friend Justin and all the church family that was there to support them. God has truly blessed Tom with Janice and I love that they gave me the opportunity to shoot such an amazing time in their lives.

New Years Eve Wedding! – Katie and Peter

Been waiting to post this one :) On New Years Eve I shot one of the most epic weddings ever…Katie and Peter! When the day got started everyone was a little bummed out because across the street from where everyone got ready there was a cliff over looking the ocean that we had planned on shooting Katie and Peter in front of but the fog was super thick that day and it was not happening. Luckily fog looks AMAZING with lights and we rocked it out.

Katie and Peter got married at Malibu Presbyterian Church, which is the church Peter grew up going to. The ceremony has everything that makes one great: Laughter, Tears, and Red Velvet Cheese Cake.

Then they finished the night off by partying till the new year. Katie and Peter are one of those great examples of how God wants us to love each other. Their love for each other and love for God is definitely an example to be modeled after.

Los Angeles Engagement – Ashley & Logan

I met Ashley about a year ago through my wife Amy and every time I saw Ashley and Logan together at church I always thought about how awesome it would be to shoot their wedding with how cool their style was…. and then they got engaged and booked me!

We got started at Union Station in Downtown LA which is a spot I have wanted to go for a while. The day had started off raining with clouds coming in and out which did not always make for great light on top of a busy train station but we ended up finding some great light and I just let them do their thing…..look good. :) Also we talked security into letting us shoot in the closed part of the station for a few minutes and got some amazing stuff!! Once we finished up there, we headed over to a cool little parking lot to get some rad shots of them and their mopeds, along with racing them around for a little fun. Finish it up with an epic sunset and BAM! engagement photo heaven. Haha.

Glendale Engagement Session – Christine & Robbie

Last week I got to shoot Christine and Robbie in Glendale. We had talked about a lot of different ideas when it came to locations and Christine suggested a movie theatre! Christine is an actress and Robbie films for TV and Movies so naturally they love going to the movies. :) We had a bunch of fun messing around in the empty theatre acting like they were watching different movies. Romantic Comedy, Horror, etc…

We tried to walk around and shoot some more but ended up getting kicked out over 3 times! Next over to El Cid’s Restaurant where they knew of this really cool tagged wall… only it was under new ownership and they had painted black over it. :( No worries, we got some really fun shots anyways. And last but not least we headed over to the Griffith Observatory in Hollywood. I have always wanted to shoot an engagement session at this spot! We got an amazing sunset and well… you’ll see the it.

Christine and Robbie are one of the funniest couples I have gotten to shoot and I cannot wait to see what we get on the day of their wedding!

Downtown Redlands Engagement – Kristin & Vince

Last week I got the honor of shooting Kristin and Vince’s engagement session in Downtown Redlands. Originally we were going to hit up wine country in Temecula but on second thought they decided to make the session more personal. Kristin and Vince had spent a lot of time studying together at the library in Redlands where we got started. Vince is a General Physician and Kristin is a Pharmacist, needless to say they had LOTS of studying to do.

The best part about shooting their photos at the library was the fact that everyone is staring at you and even when you’re alone in the Romance aisle there is still some old lady breathing like like she’s about to die in the next row. (inside joke from the session) But we still managed to get some great shots. Vince is definitely the more adventurous one when it comes to kissing out in public. Hahaha.

We started the second half of their session around downtown after an amazing dinner at Romano’s one of their favorite local spots. Got them to lay in the street and block traffic :) Then finished with one last shot at Prospect Park in the Bamboo Forest…..(see last photo) Seriously a such great way to start off the year’s engagement sessions. The bar has been raised…

Palm Desert Engagement – Tom & Janice

A few weeks back I got to shoot Tom and Janice out in Palm Desert. We had talked about options for locations and where as most couples have a general idea, they knew.

The first date Tom and Janice ever went on started out by going to a concert in Palm Desert then off to Del Taco for some 2am grub then out to Joshua Tree to sleep under the stars. They just did not want to stop being with each other and so their date ended up lasting over 48 hours! The first few locations they went are where we shot their Engagement photos :)

I have known Tom for a long time but have not spent much time with Janice since they have been together and now we were going to be spending about 3 1/2 hours in the car plus shooting time together. One thing that brings them together is music and so Janice made an awesome mix of songs for us to listen to and talk about on the way up and back. Genius! Needless to say, we had a great time and a lot of fun which you will see below. Seriously lovin the last few shots. haha.

Calabasas – LACMA Engagement – Lori + Claytor

This is a special engagement session for me because Lori and Clay are my sister in-law and soon to be brother in-law. My wife and I have been together for over 5 years so I know these two pretty well. :)

To get the day started we headed out to Calabasas to some beautiful open fields they knew about from when they were researching wedding venue’s. Lori and Clay are a very fun loving, yet also very romantic couple. It was pretty easy to get them laughing given how much I know about them. For example, Lori loves the TV show Friends as does my Wife so I was just sayin stuff like “Joey doesn’t share food!!!” and they would crack up.(Friends lovers will know what I’m talkin about) After we finished up at the feild we headed out for some coffee.

Just a little info about some of the photos below. Lori and Clay are journalists and met working at a paper together. Clay writes for the sports section and is from Dallas (Dallas Mavericks) and Lori writes articles on crime but loves coffee so we decided it would be fun to shoot them with their favorite articles from the last year along with them spray painting their date on a newspaper since that is such a huge part of their story.

After it got dark it was time to head over to our third location which I have wanted to shoot at for a long time, the LACMA building (Los Angles County Museum of Art). It was awesome! I was laying on the ground, climbing on light polls and getting dirty looks from the security in the process. It was a blast! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in April. It’s gonna be epic….

Wilson Creek Winery Temecula Engagement – Lauren and Jon

A few weeks back I got the pleasure of shooting Lauren and Jon’s Engagement Session. :) We started off at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula getting some fun shots in the vineyards. Lauren and Jon definitely have cool style and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding next October.

To Lauren and Jon: You two were awesome and I had a ton of fun shooting with you. I know you had your heart set on the lake spot but I REALLY like the stuff we got from the backup spot. I know your wedding is going to be awesome and I can’t wait to be part of that day.

P.S. Jon make sure you bring some walnut dusk to the wedding just for good measure…
